Final State Examination
After finishing his/her studies, the student has to pass a final state bachelor examination (SBE) respectively a final state master examination (SME). The content of the examinations follow from the content of studied branch or specialization and includes 3 – 5 subject areas. The undergraduate has to be acquainted with the state exam requirements at least three months before the exam.
The constituent part of the SBE or SME respectively is, according to the college statute, the defence of a bachelor or a master studies thesis. The undergraduate has to write it on a given topic, which corresponds to the study field or specialization and was chosen in such a way so that the student may apply not only his/her theoretical knowledge but his/her practical experience and skills as well. The thesis topic may be agreed upon with the student’s employer. The thesis is expertized by an independent specialist in the given field and then is defended in front of a committee.
After successful graduation from bachelor studies, the graduate gains a title of a bachelor (abb. BC.), after successful graduation from continuing master studies, the graduate gains a title of an engineer (abb. Ing.). The graduate obtains a higher education diploma where the gained title is stated as well as a supplement to the diploma in English language.
