Public administration and EU Economics

Study of this subject was started in Academic year 2007/2008 in frame of bachelor´s study programme Economic policy and administration.
 
Study programme prepares students for execution of functions in state or public administration on the level of lower territorial entity mostly in relation to the EU. Graduate can also apply for work in EU authorities. 

Aim of study and graduate´s profile

Goal of this study is raising the „administrator“ – so is marked by EPSO – Office for selection of employees for EU institutions. It basically means a manager of public administration who has sufficiant economical and managerial knowledge and is able to closely cooperate with EU authorities.
 
During the study learner gets basic politological education and knowledge of law basis sufficiant for professional communication with law service of European Commission (so that does not mean law study exceeding frame of law basis). The student also obtains sufficiant language knowledge for understanding EU documents issued only in one of the official languages; basic language is English, second language German or French, optionally both of these languages. Concept of this study programme was, besides leaders of central and district authorities, consulted with Brussel´s EU institutions through the European league for economical cooperation.
 
Graduate of this subject of study is an employee who, during his studies, gaines sufficiant knowledge in the field of public administration in the Czech republic and EU. Thanks to the language skills graduate is going to be, after passing selection procedure, able to execute administrative as well as economical functions for which baccalaureate and suspected work in foreign language is demanded.
 
The graduate is mostly expected to be able to secure transpositions of accepted rules of EU and their observance in Czech republic´s public administration. In praxis part of the graduates – according to the level of language knowledge – is going to be able to participace directly in negotiating concepts in terms of developement of acquis communautaire.
