Broker

The Broker Bachelor Study field belongs to the Banking study program. With its thematic structuring scope and targeting to practical needs, it guarantees all the graduates readiness for vocationally and managerially demanding work. 

Aim of the study program

This study program is based on the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports for the higher education area principles of long-term conception. It is oriented on preparing qualified specialists with knowledge and skills, which are needed for direct practical usefulness.
 
The study field brokerage is further divided into three specializations:

1. Financial Broker

The aim of the study specialization Financial Broker is education of highly qualified experts in the area of offering investment services and counseling in financial markets. They acquire needed knowledge of basic economic disciplines, accounting and bookkeeping, financial analyzing, and are familiarized with legal disciplines connected with these activities. At the same time, these studies focus on preparing graduates for acquiring a broker’s license after passing the required exam at the regulator’s, namely at the Securities and Exchange Commission.

2. Insurance Broker 

The aim of this specialization is education of qualified experts for the area of offering insurance services and counseling in the insurance market. They acquire needed knowledge both in particular insurance fields and in basic legal disciplines. The undergraduates are being prepared to become a licensed insurance broker after passing the required exam at the regulator’s, namely at The Ministry of Finance.

3. Real Estate Broker

The aim of the Real Estate Broker specialization is education of knowledgeable experts for areas of administration of estates, procurement in brokerage counseling for purchase and renting of immovable assets, who will acquire needed knowledge of structural engineering as well. They even acquire theoretical bases of property valuation and skills of its practical applications.
 
With its topical structuring and aiming at practical needs, the study branch guarantees its graduates to be prepared for vocationally and managerially demanding positions in banks, Stock Exchange, advisory companies, insurance companies and further financial market institutions, real estates agencies, developer and construction companies, as well as in public finance authorities and institutions, and other areas of the public sector.

Graduate Profile

The graduate of the Brokerage study field, specialization Financial Broker, becomes a specialist who is qualified for working in vocational and managerial positions in all areas of the financial market. Typical possibilities for graduates, where they may exercise their abilities, are activities of a classical financial broker, financial counseling advisor, portfolio manager, and trader in exchange as well. The graduate from the branch will further acquire knowledge needed in fundamental valuation of securities as well as their derivatives.
 
The graduate of the study field Brokerage, specialization Insurance Broker, becomes a specialist, who is qualified for working in vocational and managerial positions in all areas of insurance business. Graduates will acquire knowledge and skills, which they may exercise in working as an insurance broker, in insurance counseling, in determining insurance property value, etc. He will even acquire knowledge needed for working as an insurance accidents liquidator, in development of new insurance products or in cooperation with reinsurance companies.
 
The graduate of the Brokerage study field, specialization Real Estate Broker, becomes a specialist, who is qualified for working in vocational and managerial positions in all areas connected not only with purchase and selling, but with property management, development and affined areas. Typical possibilities for the graduates, where they may exercise their abilities, skills and knowledge, are classical real estate activities including preparation of price fixing documents and argumentation, preparation of materials for legal aspect of purchases, negotiation with concerned parties and organizations, and drawing of a marketing plan of a purchase. Further s/he may work as an immovable property manager both on basic and facility management levels. The graduate will further acquire knowledge needed for property valuation in market economy as well as for valuation on basis of administrative prices. S/he will be able to valuate the real estate property independently. S/he will be further able work in such professions as a bidder and a developer. The education of vocational subject is fully compatible with relevant education in other states of EU and with small exceptions with education in the USA. The graduate will be prepared, as to his language knowledge, for work abroad or for cooperating with foreign investors. Because no other college in the Czech Republic offers similar complex education for real estate brokers, and the other two specializations are offered only to a limited degree, we expect relative demand for our graduates.

Curriculum

The curriculum involves both subjects of theoretical basis – in two terms, and vocational subjects connected with the branch – in two terms and further, and vocational subjects of each specialization – final two terms.
