Banking Management

The Banking Management specialization, part of the bachelor study program Banking framework at BICB was first established during academic year 1999/2000. The study is aimed first of all at theoretical preparations of students for work in finance and in other areas of economic processes managing on the levels of enterprises and national economy. The study further offers knowledge of methods and processes, which market agents and state authorities may directly use under current and prospective conditions.

Aim of the study and graduate profile

The aim of the Banking Management study is to prepare graduates of higher education, theoretically prepared and practically skilled for managerial positions in banking, insurance industry, or any other similar position within the whole financial sphere. The bachelor is also ready to take over financial management positions in private and public sector companies and institutions.

The Banking Manager study branch graduate has definitely acquired knowledge and skills needed for lower or medium banking management positions. S/he has been prepared to manage lower managerial functions, namely at departments of customer service, or as shop managers, directors of branch offices, etc. The graduates from this specialization may if necessary also work as managers of specialized departments.

Conditions and study organization

The bachelor study of Banking Management branch overall lasts for 6 semesters.

The study is structured as follows:

the study of theoretical basis (1st year)

vocational study (starting from 2nd year)

The study is realized in both daily and combined forms (the length of the study is 3 years). Students will make use of commonly available literature, specialized textbooks published by BICB, and eventually other studying materials.

Vocational Practical Training

Vocational Practical training is a compulsory part of the study program. Its passing is a necessary condition for allowing a student to sit for a state exam. Students have to pass this training in the length of 3 months in the final year of their studies. They are allowed to pass it in parts during the whole studies as well. The total length of the practical training must be at least 3 months then.

Students may pass the practical training in chosen specialized banking offices or other institutions under supervision of the college. The aim of the vocational training is not only acquiring the knowledge, which upgrades the study, but also providing the students with contacts to managers, who are able to inform the undergraduates about practical novelties in the offer of particular banking products, respectively about topical problems and their solution.

Students, who are employed in finance or other related areas, may ask for recognition of their work as a practical training upon a written request. They have to support their request by an employer’ s certificate describing their position and duties.
